Love is in the Air!
A ⎡ Guilty Crown ⎦ fanfiction
Set in Shu’s childhood just because pouting Shu sounds really cute. /WHAT/ And although Mana is really really creepy (with her -literally- undying love towards Shu and all), I still ship her with Trit—ahem, Gai. Happy reading, and happy valentine’s day!

“What do you mean there’s no chocolate for me? There’s definitely a whole pile of them this morning! I saw them myself!”

The energetic boy frowned, crossing his arm dejectedly as he mourned his valentine chocolate. Despite Triton’s (ultimately useless) effort to calm Shu down, the hyperactive boy simply couldn’t give up his annual valentine chocolate stash to Mana. Put simply, Shu wasn’t happy. His honey-brown eyes sparked with childish possessiveness as he watched his sister taking over all his chocolates.

He was dismissed with a single, queen-size queen-style snort.

“These chocolates? From those silly girls who can’t even see the difference between monkey love and mammoth love?” Mana plopped a random chocolate she picked from Shu’s pile into her mouth. The two boys in the room frowned, although for differing reasons. “Hey, this one’s not bad—but really, Shu, despite being popular and all, you really shouldn’t make people too jealous!”

“I’m not making anyone jealous…and that was my chocolate!”

An overly confident smile made its way to Mana’s face. “All these chocolate are probably meant for me and you’re only a handy courier anyway.” The pink-haired girl playfully said, as she opened another of Shu’s gift chocolate. “‘Sides, who else is as close to me as you are?”

“….Triton?”

“He doesn’t count. Never does, never will.”

“M-Mana, that hurts…”

“Shut up, Triton.”

Still with a disappointed frown, Shu finally left the kitchen and dragged himself to his bedroom, leaving Mana and Triton in the kitchen. The moment the sound of the door’s click was heard, both began moving in haste. “Watch out, I don’t want to get another extra cleaning duty because of your clumsiness, Triton!” Mana warned, as she grabbed a pack of cocoa from a shelf.

“I-I might be a little shy, but that doesn’t mean I’m that clumsy, Mana!”

Chuckling, Mana voiced an approval, before she began slicing the cocoa block she had taken out. As she worked, she couldn’t help thinking about her lovely little brother. Shu had always been a popular boy at school, and it really wasn’t a surprise to see him bringing home a whole stack of chocolate boxes every year on the second week of February. Her little brother has an optimistic disposition, AND he’s cute. Not to mention he’s smart and all…

She sighed dreamily. Her entire focus was diverted to Shu, and for a moment her chocolate block was forgotten. It wasn’t until Triton poked her with a chopstick when she finally resumed slicing the block and prepare it to be melted. Really, she’s happy to know that Shu’s popular and all at school (that means they realize Shu’s good enough to like), but she does hope sometimes that Shu won’t get as many chocolates as he usually does…

“I’m still angry about the chocolate, you know.”

Throughout the evening, waves of childish resentment rolled like tsunami waves from the chocolate-deprived boy. While Triton took the full blow (and ended up sitting at the far end corner of the table, avoiding Shu’s line of sight while shivering in distress), Mana was nearly immune to the pout-like glare directed to her, having experienced the same glare almost every year.

“Oh, stop that, Triton, that’s really humiliating for a boy.” As she spoke, she gestured Triton to prepare the fruit of their messy work at the kitchen from few hours earlier. She then turned to Shu, still ignoring the waves of brotherly resentment. “And you too, Shu, don’t worry too much about the chocolate!”

“I’m not worrying about the chocolate, I’m just plain angry at you.”

“Well, what if I say I’m sorry?”

Mana winked at Shu. And the moment the sisterly love hits Shu, Triton returned from the kitchen, bringing a modestly wrapped box. It was a small box, wrapped in pink and baby blue wrapping paper, and stuck on it was a paper with Mana’s and Triton’s names on it.

It was a direct, point-blank hit.

Seeing her brother’s stunned expression, Mana couldn’t help giggling. “Did you really think I will really have the heart to leave you chocolate-deprived, Shu? Happy valentine’s day for you!” She landed a kiss on Shu’s forehead and pat him affectionately. And Triton, being the shy boy he was, simply looked at the siblings with a distant affection as Shu opened the box with joy.

“So…did Triton help too?”

“No, he didn’t.”

“…um, actually, I did almost all the work. Mana’s wrapping skills was awful…”

“But you still didn’t, because I’m the one who came up with the excellent plan of surprising Shu at dinner time!”

“….” “Mana….”
